We came, we saw her, she danced. We came again. Matty, me and Madge. Thanks to Louis for the photo.
A Queerty reader is going to be treated like a VIP this Friday. 1984’s Halloween Madonna-thon is always a packed event. Perhaps you missed the Roxy this past weekend. Here is your chance to dance with Madonna again. It is all Madonna, all night.
Check out the "deets" here.
Sources close to NYCBoys have given us the low-down on the supposed Madonna appearance tonight. It is reported that she did a walk through yesterday and if you are curious about what is happening, then read on. If you want to be surprised. Stop here.
We don't know what to believe, and the denials made us a bit suspicious. Then we see this.
The Peter Rauhofer Returns 2 Roxy flier also looks suspiciously like the Confessions' cover. Coincidence? Hmmn...
Can you say....hook, line and sinker? See you there.

So, this is the email NYCBoys received from J. Blair and the Roxy folks. So, calm the hell down! She ain't coming!
Says Pagesix about Michael Luca's Benefit for Relief antics:
"After attending the swishtastic Heatherette collection in the tents, the crafty he-whore hid under a makeup table backstage for three hours so he could sneak into Campbell's runway fest — where Beyoncé was overheard complaining that she was "buried in the middle" of the show. Lucas — whom HX magazine recently dubbed the "biggest media whore of the year" — was later spotted horning in on photos with Nicole Richie and Tyson Beckford." Crafty, indeed.
Pay attention gay boys and girls. It seems the Mets have joined the bandwagon and introduced a gay night into their season!

To kick off Olympus Fashion Week, NYCBoys attended a few shows hobnobbing and rubbing elbows with many C-D listers. The A listers were all busy with the Hurrican Katrina Telethon, as they should be.
The highlights of this weekend were the Esteban Cortazar show and the popular Rosa Cha swimsuit show by Amil Slama. Cortazar's event was amazing and we were thrilled to be seated in the front row (can you spot the NYCBoy? Hint: see Rachel Perry on page 2). Luckily for us, no lighting came crashing down on our heads.
The Rosa Cha show however provided the best entertainment. We knew that it would be fierce. It was swimwear after all, and there's nothing like a watching boys walk up and down in their skivvies. Rosa Cha didn't disappoint with the boys and gave us an extra thrill when we saw Naomi "I slap my assistants" Campbell take the runway. Her signature walk was unmistakeable and it took all my strength not to shout out, "Wooork Bitch!". True to form, she did what she wanted and commanded that runway. No one looked at the other waify models again.
Naomi, the boys, C-listers! Oh my! (Expand to see more hot speedo shots)
We've all seen them, especially late night on the subway. The Perv. Some of us ignore them and some dont. A quick thinking career girl on her way home from a job interview (she got it) caught a perv on the subway massaging his crotch and whipping it out. Her handy dandy cam phone captured it in all its glory and posted it on Flickr. She also told the police.
In the midst of the on going investigation, the cops asked her some pretty interesting questions such as what time it happened, what he was doing, where he got on and where he got off. Uh...it's pretty obvious, isn't it?

Another one bites the dust. After the demise of 18th and 8th, Big Cup is closing its doors as well, on the 28th. With the opening of an Eckerds, a Starbucks and a few others, 8th Ave is turning into one big open-air mall. What's next?

An eye opening statistic for New Yorkers. According to New York's Dept of Health, there are 100,000 New Yorkers living with AIDS. That's one out of every six people in America.
So I was walking up Lafayette Street yesterday afternoon, when I saw a production crew filming in front of the Puck Building. Me, being nosey, joined the other lookey-loos and wondered if anyone famous was working. And then I spotted her. Miss Fantasia Barrino was filming a video! In angel wings???? Umm...ok. Well, whatever, I gotta have a picture!
So I whipped out my camera and just then a huge (and I mean, HUUUGE) bodyguard came up to me and said, "Do you understand English, NOOO PICTURES!" I said, "I didn't hear anything about no pictures, but ok." So, he walked away. I took more pictures.
What? Like he was gonna stop me?
I've been completely oblivious to it, but the Museum of Sex has been Objectifying The Male Body since June 16th. Men Without Suits - Objectifying The Male Body, an exhibit set in a timeline tracing male form from classical Greece to the 21st Century, is an eye catching colage showcasing the male body with works from Edwin Townsend and most notably, George Platt Lynes. If you want to get out of the heat but still want to "sweat" a little, check out the Museum of Sex (233 Fifth Ave at 27th St).
I love NYC nightlife. It's edgy and hard and fabulous and some of the best DJs come from NYC. One of those is DJ Scotty Thomson. Scotty is fierce and when you visit NYC you can hear him play live at XL and at Spirit on Sundays.
For those not from these parts, you can still check him out by visiting his website. I was totally unaware of this cool site until a friend turned me onto it (thanks Donn!!). Click on the music player that lets you hear Scotty's latest set in full! If you still want more, you can register and download in full some of his high quality sets for your ipod. That's hot!
In the beginning....and very late one night in the spring of '84 a drunken group of friends, seeking more diversions, traipsed over to Tompkins Square Park, six-packs in tow. Brian Butterick, Michael "Kitty" Ullman, Wendy Wild, The "Lady" Bunny and a few members of the Fleshtones were horsing around in the bandshell when someone came up with the idea of putting on a show - a day-long drag festival - and calling it Wigstock. Thus, the worlds most legendary drag-centric extravaganza was born.
This year, Wigstock 05 is alive and kicking (and screaming) at Tompkins Square Park on SATURDAY, AUGUST 27, 5-7pm.

Hate Crimes in NYC on the Rise - There have been nearly a hundred attacks on gays in New York City this summer - with the two most recent over the weekend. In June and July alone there were 85 violent hate crimes against NYC gays and the number has been rising almost daily in August. (via 365gay.com)
Here is something you don't see everyday. Even in New York. Fashion models take on new challenge as they descend a vertical runway at New York City's Rockefeller Center for Target's fall fashion collection. (via cnn.com)
The forgetful sometimes don't like to be forgotten. In the 20 years of knowing him and many parties together, James St. James gets a birthday first from the Party Monster himself, Michael Alig. A card from the slammer. St. James wonders, "if nine years in the big house has changed him."

Richard at Proceed At Your Own Risk has all the photos and a nice commentary on yesterday's Pride Parade.
To kick off Pride week, we thought that it would be fitting to attend one of the best benefit concerts there are, Broadway Bares!
If you've never attended the show, then you are truly missing out on some of the best entertainment (and nudity) this side of Vegas all performed by the chorus kids of most of the major musicals/plays. Its also a good cause. Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids puts on this little show every year with proceeds going to fight the disease, for prevention and also research.
With Tony Award winning choreographer Jerry Mitchell at the helm every year, the show offers a burlesque style variety show sprinkled with tits, ass, and (if you're lucky), sometimes penis. This year show included sketches with stars like Christina Applegate, Tim Curry, David Hyde Pierce, little Dr. Ruth, Bruce Vilanch, and Shoshana Bean of Wicked.
We managed to snag tickets to the 9:30 show Sunday which was held at Roseland Ballroom and were treated to a night filled with sexy dance numbers, funny sketches, and as usual... lotsa tits, lotsa ass, and one penis! Gaiety who?
For those foolish enough to think that you'll be able to get a glimpse of her and brave enough to wade through the enourmous crowds, here is your chance to see Madge. Madonna will make a book appearance at Borders on Columbus Circle on June 8th at 4pm. She will be there to promote her new book, "Lotsa De Casha". Good Luck!
In related news, it's interesting to see that in her fourth book "The Adventures of Abdi" some of the characters in the illustrations (whether intentional or not) bare a striking resemblance to Madge. The illustrators, Andrej Dugin and Olga Dugina's most recent project was conceptual illustration for the film "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban".
In other Madge news, Madonna.com posted a statement with her reaction on the news of Kylie Minogue's recent battle with breast cancer. I reads:
And lastly, Simon LeBon of Duran Duran is the only straight man I know to be disgusted by Madge and Brit's 2003 lesbian kiss.
"When Bad Books Happen to Good People" should be the other title to this weekly literary series where New York performers are invited to select and read from their favorite bad books. And it's open season on anyone who's written a bad book or blog for that matter. Earlier this month, in keeping with the theme "Women's Problems," performers read excerpts from Rosie O'Donnell's free-verse poetry blog.
Flotilla DeBarge, everyone's favorite Star Jones clone was originally going to read "Swan", Naomi Campbell's book. But at the last minute they deciced Miss Campbell's book was not compelling enough so they opted for much "lighter" reading like "Uncle Tom's Cabin". Miss DeBarge turns it out, reading the verse a-la Scarlett O'Hara. Other noted authors are Ethan Hawke & Yvonne De Carlo, who played Lily Munster in the tv series,"The Munsters.
Next weeks book choice? An Abercrombie & Fitch catalog. via the NYtimes
Lit Lite readings are usually staged at Elmo, but venues sometimes change so call ahead.
Although I don't go to Dolly Parton, uh I mean David Barton Gym on 23rd Street, I always hear steamy stories about what goes on in the locker rooms and especially in the sauna of the gym. The sex isn't as surprising to me as how long it took for a lawsuit to come out of it. I wonder however, is the plaintiff that shocked and appalled about what he saw? Is he new to the city? Didn't he sort of assume that perhaps there would be deviant behavior at a gym in gay ole Chelsea? And it's not as if this a new thing. I've been hearing these dirty tales coming out of DBG for years! Even so, whether it's DBG or any other gym for that matter, isn't it safe to assume that lookie-loos and some sex are bound to happen? The lesson here is: If you're shy, change at home, and where sandals in the steam room. via Steve Gilliard

As many of you know, infamous CBGB nightclub on Bowery may be slated to close its doors after decades of introducing the world to incredible underground rock and roll. The closure is due to its rent hike induced by NYU (its landlord). Below is a petition that was brought to NYCBoys' attention. Read on.
Save CBGB: For those of you that don't know, the land that CBGB is built on is owned by NYU and they are raising the rent to 40k per month. Which is complete lunacy. Most of the punk and rock legends we know today came out of CB's (eg: Blondie, The Ramones, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop and many many more). Not to mention the fact that lots of bands locally and all over the world continue to come to CBGB's and perform, known and unknown.... It would be a shame to let NYU's greed department take that from us now and future generations who happen to care about the roots of NYC punk rock/rock-n-roll. Just click on the link and sign the petition to at least keep CBGB a historical landmark in NYC and save it from becoming another eye sore dormitory high rise.

This weekend in NYC certainly was a delight. You can't beat 75 degrees. We took advantage of the nice weather to catch the Ashes & Snow exhibit on Pier 54. It was incredible, haunting and mesmerizing. A must, if you're in town.
The next stop was Monster Sushi on Hudson and a seat behind Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters!!! We LOVE Scissor Sisters and we LOVE Jake...his music, his style! He's the shit! After our meal we chatted with Jake for a bit before he left on his rollerblades to wherever, and was kind enough to take pics with us. Thanks again Jake. And thanks to Terri for the photos! Tom of Finland known to many gays as the master of erotic masculine works will have his art displayed at Art At Large here in NYC this month. Tom's work embodies the allure of cruising, and anonymous sex between men, in the 50s 60s and 70s. These so called "dirty pictures" are considered by many to be the first depictions of gay pornographic sex. Tom (his real name is Touko Laaksonen) was born on 8 May 1920 and died of an emphysema induced stroke in 1991.
Tom Of Finland at Art At Large - April 7th until April 23rd.
More art work after the jump.
Upon hearing that the Gaiety closed its doors (due to the building being demolished) I, as many others here in the city, wondered "where were we gonna go now?"
Well don't dispair! One of my trusty partners in crime has come up with a nifty, yet temporary replacement (until the Gaiety finds a new venue). Time Square Hunks is an all male revue that looks very promising (see hotness above). One catch though...it's for ladies only! RATS!
Ok, so boys are allowed, but only if they bring two girls with them. That's doable right? So boys...collect your hags (and your dollar bills) and take thee to Time Square Hunks! Pronto!!
A Star Is Bombed - This week's HX has a hilarious down and dirty interview with everyone's favorite Payless Shoe hooker hocker. Well, sort of. It's truly a mock-interview, held at Splash bar no less.
Excerpt:
Q: So you don’t think it’s wrong to kill animals purely for fashion?
A: It’s wrong not to kill animals. That’s part of God’s plan. He wants me to look gorgeous. If He didn’t, He wouldn’t have saved me from the tsunami. Animals are here for us to use as we need. Run your skin across a luxurious fur and you’ll understand. Not only does fur look fabulous, it feels fabulous. I love it so much, I’m designing an entire line of fur products.
Q: Can you give us some details?
A: I don’t see why anything that I have to touch couldn’t be lined with fur. Like pillows and sheets. Cell phones. Steak knives. My chair on The View. The microphone I use on the red carpet. I’m sure everyone would want me to feel comfortable and look good. Oh, and Kentucky Fried Chicken is working on a fur-lined bucket.
Q: A fur-lined bucket of chicken? That sounds messy.
A: Don’t be an idiot. The fur goes on the outside, of course. I’m going to call the entire line “Look Like a Star.” Martha Stewart had the great idea to make her products available to the masses. So my line will be sold at Wal-Mart. They sell guns, so their shoppers understand that animals should be shot. By the way, I need another cocktail.

A british artist named Banksy, has managed to do what for many artists may take years to accomplish, if they are lucky. He has had his art displayed on four of the major museums here in NYC. Nevermind that the curators had no idea who he was, had no records of him or that he put the art up on the walls himself!

If you're in NYC today, chances are that you are heading over to 5th Ave to snag a nice spot to view the parade. Yes, the 244th St. Patrick's Day Parade! But do you know how it all began? Well, here's a little lesson lads and lassies!
The first St. Patrick's Day parade took place not in Ireland, but in the United States. Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched through New York City on March 17, 1762. Along with their music, the parade helped the soldiers to reconnect with their Irish roots, as well as fellow Irishmen serving in the English army. Read more about it here. via thehistorychannel.com
In addition, National Geographic has rustled up other facts related to St. Patrick's Day festivities. For example:

We passed by the old pier the other night on our way home from the gym and this is what we saw. We wondered, "Where is this year's Pier Dance gonna go"?
Hudson River Park is hosting the Ashes and Snow this coming spring (March 5 through June 6). An exhibit featuring more than 200 large-scale photographic works and an accompanying 35mm film by artist Gregory Colbert.
Architect Shigeru Ban designed the first-ever Nomadic Museum that will house Ashes and Snow. This 45,000-square-foot temporary structure, composed largely of recyclable and reusable materials (used shipping containers for the walls and paper tubing for the roof and columns), will provide a stable and movable environmnent as it travels across the country.
The Pier Dance, if you were wondering, is not until June 26th.
Yesterday's unveiling (or unfurling, shall we say) of New York's largest art installation was an event 20 years in the making. We made it to the park around noon time and most of the Gates (not all) were already unfurled and billowing in the winter breeze. The park was filled with onlookers and the most amazing part was how quiet the park was. (see Gallery here)
Everyone was busy studying the panels and in wonderment of how this was done. It's definitely something too grand for most to comprehend or conceive.
For those that do not live here, we've taken the time to put together a gallery of what we saw. Enjoy!

Slated to debut this Saturday, February 12th (weather permitting, says the website), The Gates by Christo and Jean-Claude is an installation of 7500 free hanging saffron colored fabric panels measuring 16 feet high with a width varying from 5' 6" to 18 feet that will follow the edges of the walkways and will be perpendicular to the selected 23 miles of footpaths in Central Park.
Installation of this enormous piece has already begun and it will only show for 2 weeks. A mighty undertaking for such a short viewing. Don't miss it.

I love the vast variety of little eateries that New York has to offer and I'm amazed that while the rest of the world obsesses about counting carbs, New Yorkers wait in long lines for delicious and ultra fattening cupcakes. An after dinner delight at Magnolia bakery.
My problem is this. The lines and the clusterfuck inside the bakery. There is no sense of control, direction. Its a virtual free-for-all battling those diet breaker and closet eaters. (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!) Sometimes, one just wants to casually go inside, grab a "soft one" and skidaddle. That won't happen at Magnolia from 7pm until closing.
Much to my delight, a new bakery has opened owned by a former Magnolia Alumn. Billy's Bakery on 9th Ave has everything you want from Magnolia sans the lines, pushing, and gorging next to overflowing trashcans filled with cupcake remnants. The joint is bigger and the cupcakes are exactly the same!!! What a treat! And for those that live in Chelsea....sooo much closer.
